Single wool doonas do double duty in most Australian households, covering everything from a teenager's room to a spare bed for visiting family, often used across very different temperature needs in the same house. A 100% New Zealand wool duvet inner regulates warmth well enough to suit most of those uses without needing to worry about a different weight for every room or season.
A single wool quilt measures 140 x 210cm and comes in a 150gsm summer weight, 350gsm autumn, 500gsm winter, or a Four Seasons option, which is two doonas (150gsm and 350gsm) that clip together for a combined 500gsm on the coldest nights, then separate again once the weather turns. Wool is our most affordable natural fibre range at this size, and every doona is cased in 290 thread count cotton cambric with Sanitized® Mintactiv treatment to help protect against dust mites. If you tend to sleep hot, our single alpaca doonas breathe a little more for a similar level of warmth.
The 150gsm summer weight is built for this and shouldn't leave you overheating through a humid night, since wool moves moisture away from your skin rather than trapping it. Browse our summer quilts to compare the lightest option across our alpaca and down ranges too.
Both regulate temperature well, but our quilt buying guide notes alpaca fibre runs around 25% warmer for its weight and wicks moisture a little more efficiently, which suits sleepers who overheat easily. Wool is the more affordable entry point into natural fibre bedding, and a strong choice if you don't run especially hot.
Yes. Wash on a gentle or wool cycle at a maximum of 40°C, and avoid top loaders, which can felt the wool. Dry naturally or on a low tumble setting, or send it for dry cleaning if that suits your routine better.
In the unlikely event that you find a fault with your Eiderdown purchase, every doona carries a 5-year guarantee against manufacturing issues. Contact our team any time within that period and we'll arrange a repair or replacement for genuine faults. More information can be found on our warranty and returns page.
